Fortnite has near-constant updates hitting the game. Most recently, we’ve got an update that brings back the very first FN map! The Fortnite update patch notes let you know everything that’s changed in the game. With every update these days adding seemingly something huge, it’s important to stay on top if you want to keep getting Victory Royales.
Anyone wondering if Fortnite is dying likely doesn’t see the near-constant stream of new content the game gets. If you want to keep performing as well as possible, You need to know what’s added in each patch, like unvaulted weapons and newer landing spots.
This is everything that’s new in the Fortnite patch notes this week.
LATEST FORTNITE UPDATE – SUMMER UPDATE
UNDERWRITER
One new feature of the latest update is a fresh Fortnite NPC location. The Underwriter is a new NPC, but one with a new service on offer. Rather than just selling you a gun, the Underwriter will attach random weapon mods to your weapon.
If you’re stuck in a jam without a scope, this could be a lifesaver. As it’s random it won’t be to everyone’s tastes. However, for longer-range weapons this could really come in clutch.
Ranked Changes
With the latest Fortnite update, we’ve had Fortnite Summer 2024 started, and with it has come a change to Ranked. For the duration of the event, Ranked will have its own loot pool. There will be no hireable NPCs, cars, or Nitro Fists. It means a more basic Fortnite build for the game’s Ranked mode. Closer to tournaments, which should be refreshing to players.
At the moment this is billed as a limited time change. It’s something Ranked players have wanted for a while, but Epic is limiting it to the Summer for now. Since this season has been such a departure it makes sense to do this now. once future seasons go back to more core gameplay though we might see the return of the pubs ruleset for Ranked too.
MAGNETO UNLOCKED – FORTNITE PATCH NOTES
Just before we go onto the Fortnite Summer Event, Epic has added one more update. This patch enables a long-anticipated skin and some other content. The big new change is the addition of Wastelander Magneto.
BONUS SKIN UNLOCKS
The new update has unlocked the Wastelander Magneto Fortnite skin. If you already have the Battle Pass you can start unlocking the characters now. To get it done, you’ll need to complete. Handful of quests in-game. There are two different styles coming along with extra cosmetics like Back Bling.
NEW ITEM – MAGNETO GAUNTLETS
Part of the new Fortnite patch notes is a fresh new Mythic, the Fortnite Magneto Gauntlets These are a new item which lets you pick up any item around you containing metal. You’ll them throw shards of metal from them into other players. The secondary use is to make a metal shield to block incoming fire.
The Magneto Gauntlets aren’t useable in tournaments, but they’ll be a fun addition to casual matches over the rest of the season.
V30.20.01 PATCH NOTES
A surprise late patch is here for the week! Just a few days before the season changes as move onto our Fortnite Summer event, there’s a brand-new patch. The headline move is the release of a new game mode. Has anything else actually changed in this patch though? Often Epic uses these smaller changes to mix things up.
RELOAD CHANGES
The big change in the new patch notes is the release of Fortnite Reload Duos. Although, it isn’t just Duos. There’s a handful of balancing changes that have been made to every mode in Reload. This is to adjust based on how players have performed in Ranked since its first release.
One change is crawl speed. You’ll crawl faster now when you’re downed. Great for a mode with a focus on fast-paced gunplay. The next change is Shotguns. On the whole, these have been moved around the loot pool. They’ll now be dropping in considerably higher quantity across the mode. Chests are all over the Fortnite Reload map, but this will ensure everyone gets a shotgun.
The next is to Exotic and Mythic items. These will drop less frequently. While already rare, they did kind of come out a lot since there are so many chest spawns. This alteration will help to keep them mythic.
Reload has seen all of the big changes in the latest Fortnite update patch notes. However, we’re moving into the summer event soon and then a crossover event. So, we’ll see more changes in Battle Royale then.
JUNE HOTFIX
This week we haven’t quite had a full Fortnite update, but there are still a few patch notes. The game has had a slight re-balance of its items for this week.
The biggest change is the alteration to the Assault Rifles. The Warforged Assault Rifle has been vaulted and the Combat is taking its place. This is a bit of a more well-liked AR, so it’s nice to get it back in the game. It does have heavy recoil, so it’s better used up close.
The other weapon that’s seen some big changes is the Tow Hook Cannon. That’s had its spawn rate reduced. Since the Fortnite Tow Hook was added it’s been everywhere, so this change should balance it out a bit more.
The next change hasn’t been included in official patch notes, but from playing it feels like the Nitro Fists has been reduced in spawns. The Mythic seems to be around still, but they are in very short supply. Even claiming the Nitrodrome doesn’t drop a load like it used to. This might just be a bit of a bug at the moment. We can probably expect the fists to be back around soon. We do have the Metallica guitar mythic to use in the meantime though.
METALLICA AND MORE
What’s new in this first real update of Chapter 5 Season 3? There are quite a few major improvements here, including the new Fortnite X Metallica crossover. In Battle Royale though, there are tons of new improvements and items fans can jump into. These are all the major changes in the latest Fortnite patch notes.
EMP GRENADES ARRIVE
One of the bigger problems with the new season had been the strength of the cars, the counters have been a bit lacking. That’s why Boogie Bombs were unvaulted in an emergency change. Now, we’re getting EMP Grenades in their place.
These will shut down a car in a single burst! There is going to be a great counter that adds a bit of danger back into vehicle gameplay.
NEW WEAPONS
Three new weapons have been activated with our latest Fortnite patch notes. These are:
- Tow Hook Cannon – A kind of grappling hook you can use to attach yourself to cars.
- Hunting Rifle – A new form of hunting rifle is here for the latest season! This will spice things up now that the Sniper is out.
- Combat AR – Now available in basic forms as well as mythic.
VICTORY UMBRELLA BUG FIX
If you’ve won a game this season, you might not have gotten the proper Victory Umbrella. This pesky bug has now been fixed. Players will find it when they log back in.
MAP ALTERATIONS
Even the map’s received a bit of a revamp with this current update. The lake is the center of the map has begun to dry up, plus the Nitro Dome has seen changes.
BATTLE PASS SUPER STYLES
The new update includes some extra features for the Battle Pass. Super Styles are here. These are stretch goals for the skins, and unique styles to show off your progress in the season.
METALLICA LOOT ISLAND
Another major change to the game is Loot Island. This has been revamped to be part of the Metallica crossover. It’s also home to a new Metallica Mythic, the Guitar. The Ride the Lightning Guitar is a pretty fun addition with unique gameplay.
FORTNITE PATCH NOTES – WILD WEEK
The latest Fortnite update is here, the final one of Chapter 5 Season 2 before we move onto a brand-new season with an event. What’s happening for our final week? Epic has included quite a few changes to the game, particularly another event! This isn’t as big as Avatar or even Star Wars, it’s more of a chance to unlock some extra XP before the season ends. These are the big changes in this final Fortnite update patch notes for our current season.
DUMMY QUESTS
Most of the changes with the current Fortnite update are on the back end, prepping us for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 and upcoming event. Plus, confirmation of that upcoming Fortnite Loki collab. However, one new feature has been added in, Whiplash Wild Weeks, or Dummy’s Quests.
These are a new batch of Quests that are geared around completing challenges in vehicles. All given to you by Fortnite’s crash test dummy man.
These quests will be a good way to get a bit more XP before the season ends. The Battle Pass is tougher than ever to get through with the game nerfing normal XP drop rates. You might need these quests and to use some of the best Fortnite XP maps if you want to hit level 200.
NEW FORTNITE X STAR WARS EVENT ARRIVES
The latest Fortnite update patch notes are pretty big. We’re only just at the end of the last event, but a new one has started! A fresh take on Fortnite X Star Wars has begun! Or it will, on Friday May 3rd.
The event has a lot of new content in the Lego Fortnite patch notes. However, Battle Royale is getting a decent number of new features too. These are the highlights of what’s been added:
NEW MAP CHANGES AND MYTHICS
A big part of the new Star Wars Fortnite collab in Battle Royale is Imperial Roadblocks coming back. These have been here in the past too, small landmarks on the roads staffed by stormtroopers. In a random one of these each game, Chewbacca’s Mythic will spawn. Defeat the stormtroopers and you can get a Mythic bowcaster.
The Darth Vader boss is back too. Like last time, he’ll land in a spaceship and you’ll have to defeat him to get Darth Vader’s Lightsaber. It’s a powered-up version of the normal FN melee weapon with force powers and other bonuses. It’s a lot of work for the mythic compared to some of the others this season though.
NEW WEAPONS
The Fortnite Star Wars weapons are back again for this collab. You can find Imperial Chests at the roadblocks which unleash these new guns. For starters, there’s the new Bowcaster. That’s available as a Chapter 5 Mythic.
There’s also the returning E-11 Blasters. These have unlimited ammo but the trade of having a cooldown feature. These are available from the Imperial Chests and dropped by stormtroopers. Hopefully, you have better aim than they do.
STAR WARS QUESTS
Each game mode is getting its own set of Star Wars quests. These will lead you to unlock new cosmetics in each game mode too. They’ll be active from the event’s start time, Friday. They’ll run through until May 14th.
OTHER CHANGES IN LATEST FORTNITE PATCH NOTES
That’s the new Star Wars content, but in the rest of the patch we’ve had a few more changes. The game is getting ready for the FNCS Semi-Finals and Finals beyond them. Weapons have had a bit of a re-balance with the Mythics swapped around. Avatar bending Mythics are gone. Aspects of the Gods are back. These will be here along with the Star Wars items for the final few weeks of the season.
FORTNITE UPDATE ADDS CONFRONTATIONAL EMOTES SETTINGS
The new update for Fortnite has an interesting new setting, confrontational emotes. The top Fortnite emotes are those that everyone understands, ones that easily get their point across. However, there are some which put across less than polite meanings. Some emotes have been used by players just to insult and belittle players! Epic has now introduced a way to turn them off, and annoyingly it’s turned off by default.
The Fortnite update has introduced what they’re calling Confrontational emote settings. This is a new feature in the game, it essentially means some select emotes like Donkey Laugh and Take the L won’t show up for you. If a sweaty Fortnite player wants to show off their crazy kill, you won’t even notice.
This new setting has weirdly been turned on by default. For most players who don’t really follow Fortnite news, they likely won’t even notice. They’ll start playing a new version of the game where no one is ever disrespectful! If you want to see when a player is donkey laughing though, you can head it and turn it off.
TACTICAL AR RETURNS
The other new feature in the latest Fortnite update patch notes is the return of a classic weapon. The Tactical Assault Rifle has just been released. This is a fun gun that feels a lot stronger than Chapter 5’s own ARs so far. It could revitalize the category of gun for the rest of the season.
ANIMALS ARRIVE IN LEGO FORTNITE UPDATE PATCH NOTES V29.30
A new Fortnite update is here, but it isn’t hitting Battle Royale. This is an update focused entirely on animals and farms! It’s a change that is adding quite a bit of variety to the worlds you can build. This update is focused on animals but also lets you expand out villages to make them more full of life.
ANIMALS COME TO LEGO FORTNITE
A new feature in the latest Fortnite patch notes for this update is animals. There are already animals roaming about the map, but you can now add them to your village. Three slots in each village will be able to house animals, and four can house people or animals.
This change applies to the existing animals, cows, sheep, and chickens. However, Pigs have also been added. To get started you’ll need to build an animal house for them to live in, then befriend and recruit the animal back to your village. Each of the animals will produce resources, earning their keep in your village.
New Villagers
Five new characters have been added to the Lego Fortnite update. These are:
- Cadence
- Ash
- Brooks
- Lana Llane
- Guernsey
New animals are on the nicer side of the additions, but there are new creatures added who aren’t quite as gentle. Players can now find Bears roaming around the world. These can be dangerous, as long as they’re awake.
NEW FORTNITE UPDATE PATCH NOTES – V29.90
Another new patch is here for Fortnite this week, releasing the Fortnite Avatar crossover in full! Last week we got the Kora bonus skin unlocked. This week, it’s the full collab.
In the Fortnite update patch notes, we’ve got all the Avatar skins in-game now. That’s along with a handful of new items. Alongside the water-bending item, we’ll be getting Air bending too. Although, these aren’t active just yet. They’ll be enabled on Friday. It’s just a short wait before these extra Fortnite Chapter 5 Mythic comes out.
AVATAR ELEMENTS PASS
We’ve got the new Mythics and skins, but this is a big event with a full pass to go alongside it. Like the Star Wars and Ninja Turtles event passes, this is a two-tiered system. There’s a free tier with a handful of exclusive rewards. However, the premium tier allows you to unlock actual cosmetics and much cooler items.
The event pass is in-game now, but it won’t be enabled for a few more days. It hits on Friday alongside the new Mythics for the game. The avatar elements pass will run for a few weeks, before the return of Star Wars in early May.
OTHER CHANGES
That’s the major new addition with the latest Fortnite update patch notes. However, V29.90 has a few other alterations too. There’s also the addition of a timer to the Fortnite item shop. Along with removing rarity for skins as a whole. Other bug fixes are also here, like making the level 200 reward actually unlockable.
There are also a few adjustments here for Fortnite Festival. Such as a re-design for the jam stage and a reorganization for Jam tracks. These changes will all help to keep the other modes in the game alive.
FORTNITE V29.10 PATCH NOTES
The latest Fortnite update is here! This is a substantial change, with quite a bit of new content coming for the game’s modes. It’s the long-awaited Lego mode vehicle update. However, there’s also altered content here for Battle Royale and the rest of the game. This is what’s changed with the newest update.
FORTNITE LEGO CHANGES
Players in the Lego mode can now add steering wheels to control builds. There are also a number of new builds related to vehicle to get driving around the map much quicker.
Epic is continuing to rollout more Lego styles for skins with these Fortnite updates too. The new content in the game is really starting to take shape now.
BATTLE ROYALE
The major change in Battle Royale for the newest update is some much-needed balance adjustments. Quite a few changes have been made, starting with the most OP gun in the season so far.
The Sniper will no longer drop in Uncommon or Rare rarities. Meaning you’ll only find the rare higher rarity version. They’ve also had their overall drop rate reduced. It’s a big nerf to the RNG for the item, but if you find one it’ll still be powerful.
The DMR has received a few buffs with this latest update too. For the most part, the latest Fortnite update. Seems to be trying to balance the Sniper and DMR. While effective the DMR just hasn’t been a good enough sniper replacement this season. With these updates that could change.
The Drum Gun has also received a buff to damage. The Frenzy Auto Shotgun has had its damage range lowered too. This was a long needed nerf to a shotgun that could outplay ARs at the mid-range.
With the latest Fortnite update, Epic has made some of the best balancing changes in a while, fixing long standing problems with guns. Hopefully this will make it even more rewarding when you win Fortnite games this season.
FORTNITE UPDATE – CHAPTER 5 SEASON 2’S FIRST EVENT
MIDAS RETURNS IN NEW FORTNITE EVENT
The latest Fortnite update has brought Midas back to the island! The former head of Fortnite’s secret societies is still dead, but he’s managed to escape from the Underworld.
In Battle Royale, Midas is attempting to finish his escape by finally getting away from the island. We’ve got a number of new Fortnite quests that task players with helping him escape. There’s also a handful of new items here too though, like the return of the Drum Gun. The new quests in-game are under Rise of Midas. Get them all completed to unlock new cosmetics in-game. These are some fun new Midas-themed items.
The quests will be available in five different phases. They’ll be running through till April 2nd. Once you complete 6 quests, you’ll unlock a spray. 12 gets you the Rose Avarice Back Bling. 18 unlocks of Queen in Gold Glider.
Along with new quests, the game has brought back an old LTM, the Floor is Lava! There’s also a new version of Midas available in the item shop starting March 26. He’s one of the most popular Fortnite characters, so plenty will be queuing up to get a new style of him.
MIDAS GOLD CUP
To celebrate the return of Midas, we’re getting a special Midas Cup. This will be held on March 24. A new Fortnite esports event to celebrate the current content. A new Midas loading screen will be awarded to everyone who gets eight or more points too.
OTHER CHANGES
Midas isn’t the only major alteration in the latest Fortnite update. There are two. More changes here too. Fun new items we can finally unlock.
- Chains of Hades – The Hades C5 Mythic is finally accessible to players! You can find it in loot and by taking out Hades himself.
- Shield Bubble Jr – A new version of the Shield Bubble is here. It’s a bit smaller since it’s a “jr” version.
CH5 S1 FORTNITE UPDATES
The latest Fortnite update isn’t one of the big ones that unlock new content in the game. It actually hasn’t even had a proper patch. However, on our normal update day, we’ve seen some big changes be made in-game!
The first is that the Ninja Turtles items are gone. At first, the drops were disabled. Now all of the Mythics have been removed, along with the Pizza Party. We’ve returned to our standard loot pool for the end of the season. The Fortnite Jubi Slide emote was recently removed too.
The Ninja Turtle items were due to leave this week. When they weren’t fully disabled at first. Players had thought they might be sticking around in a smaller way till the season ends. They could always come back in the future though.
The other major part of the change is build-up for when the next season start! We’re seeing earthquakes take place in-game. These are showing cracks on the ground, taking place every hour. A large hand should be emerging pretty soon.
This isn’t a full live event, but it’s great to see a bit more interactivity for the end of the season. This kind of build-up always made season changeovers feel special in Chapter 1, they’ve been missed.
NEW FORTNTIE UPDATE – V28.3 ADDS TMNT CONTENT AND NEW HEALS
A new Fortnite update is here, just a day later than we expected! It’s a sizeable patch to the game’s files, with the TMNT event getting added but not quite enabled yet. Outside of that, we have a new item in-game and some other changes for players to think about. This update has come right in the middle of the FNCS Major 1 process. What’s changed in the game itself though?
NEW MYTHICS
In the files right now, but not in the game live yet, are new Ninja Turtles Mythics. These are the new Mythics which Epic has queued for the game with the latest Fortnite update.
- Bo Staff
- Katanas
- Sais
- Nunchucks
It looks like the new Mythics will be dropping in a similar way to the MHA X Fortnite items. You can find them in Supply Drops with the heads of each Ninja Turtle on them.
Along with the new Mythics, we’ve got a new NPC on the map. You can now find Master Splinter, plus he has special dialogue for the Ninja Turtle skins. These elements along with the new quests and event pas won’t be live in game for a little while though. There’s an in-game countdown before they start.
HOVERBOARDS RETURN
Another new addition is the return of Hoverboards! Turtle themed boards are in the game starting with the event. They do now have the fuel mechanic added though, which will limit them a bit more.
FIZZ BARREL
The rare bit of actual live content in the newest Fortnite update are Fizz Barrels. These are a barrel form of the new Chapter’s healing item. It works like the Chug barrels or splash barrels. Destroy the barrel to get a minor shield heal and low gravity effect.
Most of the Fortnite V28.30 update will be activated a little further into the week. However, it’s exciting to see so much new content coming in the next few days.
FEBRUARY 2024 HOTFIX
BUSINESS TURRET RETURNS WITH LATEST FORTNITE PATCH NOTES
The biggest news with the latest Fortnite update is the business Turret returning! Along with the February 2024 Crew Pack, the Business Turret has been re-enabled. This was done fairly quietly in a hotfix, with most players only discovering it through finding one in a chest!
The Business Turret was one of C4’s most fun items. It’s a turret which you can deploy that will then start pelting any enemies with bullets. In Builds it can be an annoying pest. However, in Zero Builds it can absolutely shred, becoming a monster in the late game. This new item will spice up the more static gameplay we’ve been seeing with the latest season.
OTHER CHANGES
The re-enabling of the Business Turret was our biggest change, but this update was really about fixes. Since last week’s more major update, we’ve seen some bugs work their way into the game. Things like grind rails not allowing safe passage and weapon mods rendering them unusable. Epic has responded to these pretty quickly though. They’ve quickly patched out these problems. Players should be able to jump back in and enjoy Chapter 5 of Fortnite now they’ve been ironed back out.
BIG REFRESH FOR LEGO FORTNITE AND ROCKET RACING
A new set of Fortnite patch notes are here! This is a bigger update. We’re starting to see the extra games from Chapter 5 getting updates, like Lego Fortnite getting quite a few big new features. We’re also seeing a new character unlock in the Battle Pass. Players can unlock Solid Snake in Fortnite now. These are the big changes in the latest Fortnite Update.
FORTNITE ROCKET RACING UPDATE
There’s been quite a few patches to how the new racing mode works. It’s our first real addition for this mode. These are the changes here.
- New Tracks – Two new tracks have been added, there’s Lazy Lake 2 and 2 Raceway Deux
- New Customization – you can now customize the trail that is left after your car.
- Mobile Optimization – The Mobile controls have been updated for an easier time playing on this platform.
- CPU Performance Improved
- Car Collision Lessened
- Aid Dodging Fixes
- Invert Steer Setting Added
- Fixed matchmaking issues when queuing after a race
These are some of the big fixes we’ve seen. It should take care of most of the major problems with this side of the game.
LEGO FORTNITE CHANGES
The second part of the new Fortnite patch notes are the changes to Lego Fortnite! We’ve got quite a few major improvements coming to this game mode. These are the changes in v28.10 for Lego Fortnite.
- New Item – You can now create Launch Pads to get around quicker.
- Building Fixes – More parts are here and you can build on a greater variety of surfaces.
- Villagers – Three new villagers have been added and they have extra options for you
- Loot Changes – Chests have been altered.
- Burning items with Campfire is now possible
- Mob Changes – Behaviour for some mobs has changed.
- More Skins – Extra skins are getting Lego styles, including quite a few crossovers like Spider-Man and Jack Skellington.
- Bug Fixes
- Extra Features – Added moving while eating, auto pick up, crossbow changes, pings added, Stack items in chests, food changed, and more
Lego Fortnite especially has had a big change in the latest Fortnite patch notes. We’ll see even more features come to Fortnite over the rest of the season.
OLDER CHAPTER 5 PATCH NOTES
NEW JANUARY HOTFIX
The latest Fortnite update isn’t a major patch with brand new content, or even the snow leaving some of the map now Winterfest is over. Instead, this Tuesday we’ve received a new hotix. Epic is bringing back one of the lesser-used Fortnite items from recent seasons, the Crash Pad Jr.
This hotfix has primarily re-enabled the Fortnite Crash Pad Jr. It’s an item that lets you throw an inflatable pad on the floor. Below you. It cancels fall damage and bounces you forward. This is the smaller version which doesn’t launch you as high. First used in Chapter 4, these little pads are good for shorter getaways. Where it gets more interesting is the interaction with flow berries. The new Chapter 5 item gives a bigger jump. Combine it with this the crash pad and you’ll jump quite a bit higher.
That’s everything changed in the new hotfix. On the backend we’ve probably seen quite a few new skins get added to the files. However, in terms of gameplay changes the Crash Pad Jr is the sum of the latest Fortnite patch notes.
The other big change is removing the item shop refresh countdown. A weird change. It continues Epic’s current trend of messing with the item shop.
FORTNITE PATCH NOTES ADD NEW ITEMS WITH END OF WINTERFEST
A new Fortnite update is here! A little early, Epic has dropped our first update since the Winter break. We’ve got two new items and some other balancing changes altered in the game. How have things changed with the January 2 Fortnite update?
NEW ITEM – ENFORCER AR
A new weapon is here! We’ve got a brand-new item introduced, the Enforcer AR. Like the other two in the loot pool, this one still has projectile travel speed and bullet drop. It works a bit differently than the other two. This weapon probably still won’t be able to compete with the Snipers this season, but it’s fun to get a fresh gun in the loot pool.
FLOWBERRY FIZZ
The other major new addition is the Flowberry Fizz. This is a new consumable that you can find in all of the normal places. It’s a healing item that gives you 100 shield over time. It’s a nice addition but nothing too game-breaking. Players will likely stick with their standard pots for what to carry all game, but it’s great to see new heals.
WINTERFEST ENDS
One of the bigger changes with the latest Fortnite patch notes isn’t anything new. It’s the removal of something else. The Winterfest celebration is over! Players can’t finish any of the quests anymore. The items are gone too. Hopefully, you got your fill of the Snowball launcher and Grappler while they were here, they’re likely gone for another year.
MEDALLION CHANGES
The Medallions are by far the most powerful item in the game, at least at launch. The latest Fortnite patch notes have introduced a few more changes to how they work. These go some way towards balancing them. Although, with all five you’re still essentially a juggernaut. These are the medallion changes.
- Healing Nerfed – Single medallions now only heal to 50, two to 60, three to 70, four to 80, and all five to 100
- Healing Rate Slowed
- Delay Introduced Before They Heal
- Circle Marking Location Significantly Smaller
These should really help to make them a bit better balanced across the game. Although, they’ll still be a powerful factor. Keep these in mind for the Chapter 5 esports events.
OTHER HOTFIX CHANGES
Medallions are definitely the major gameplay alteration of the most recent season, but Epic has also fiddled with a few other details of their most recent season. These are the other balancing changes so far.
- Flowberries Buffed – Now heals for 15 instead of 10
- Snowball launcher Mag – Size reduced from 6 to 4
- Burst SMG Mag – Reduced from 24 to 27
- Reaper Sniper Rifle – Drop Rate Reduced
These are some good changes which should help to make things a bit more balanced over the next few weeks.
WINTERFEST 2023 UPDATE
The other half of the most recent Fortnite patch notes is the new event, Winterfest 2023! This is a whole new event. We’re getting free Fortnite cosmetics, new content in Battle Royale, and even the return of LTMs. These are some of the new content you can find until January.
Free Cosmetics
Each day over Winterfest, you’ll unlock a new free cosmetic. This isn’t happening in the Winter Cabin like usual, it’s just in the quests this time. However, it functions basically the same. Every day you can log in and click redeem to get more items. There are the standard banners and smaller rewards, but also two fun winter-themed skins.
New Items in Battle Royale
Battle Royale is getting a ton of new items for the Fortnite Winterfest event. These are the Christmas additions making a return in the current Fortnite patch notes.
- Snowball Launcher
- Sneaky Snowmen
- Christmas Presents
- Icy Grappler
It’s a more restrained loot pool than the Christmas of planes we’ve gotten in the past. There are still plenty of Fortnite Chapter 5 mythics kicking around to hype things up though.
New LTM
A new LTM-themed around making Christmas deliveries is here. It’s a classic-style Fortnite LTM, taking place on the Battle Royale map rather than on a creative level. Players can find throwable loot which they have to “deliver” by throwing it at enemy players. There are a few quests to complete in this mode too.
FORTNITE OG PATCH NOTES
The latest Fortnite patch notes are a bit lot! We might only be literal days into the Season, but Epic has dropped something huge. We got one of the increasingly common non-Tuesday updates! It’s a pretty big addition. This is what’s new:
LEGO FORTNITE MODE IS HERE
The biggest part of the latest Fortnite patch notes is that Epic has added another game to Fortnite. Along with Battle Royale and all of those Creative experiences, we’ve got a full Fortnite Lego mode released. It’s a more independent game where you’re exploring an entire Fortnite World made out of Lego.
Functionally, it’s pretty similar to Minecraft. You’re exploring randomly generated worlds. Collecting resources, fighting mobs, meeting NPCs. Generally, you’re just exploring and hanging out. There are tons to discover in here but it’s more of a sandbox. You can do whatever you want. You can even take your Fortnite skins over to the Lego Mode. You’ll be able to bring all non-crossover characters there as new Lego versions and more are coming soon.
Alongside this, we’ve seen new skins get added to the item shop which each come with new Lego versions.
NEW SKINS IN FILES
It isn’t just Lego that’s been added, we’ve had quite a few new looks put into the game. These aren’t in the Fortnite shop just yet. However, we can expect these skins to hit the game in the next few weeks.
- Lego Mr Beast
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
- Dragon Ball Skins (Cell and Frieza)
- John Wick (with a new form)
CHAPTER 5
A new Fortnite patch has just hit. After a few weeks of slipped release dates, Epic has, for some reason, gone back to Tuesday updates. What’s changed in the latest patch notes? There are a few alterations that have happened, but for a lot of players, the major changes are under the hood, with Epic adding a serious amount of new content that’s lining up with our end-of-season event. Now we’ve moved further in the week, the game has had its update activated and we’ve moved onto a new season in the game’s Chapter 1 flashback. This is what’s changed with the latest patch.
FORTNITE OG EVENT FILES ADDED
The end of the current Fortnite season has been updated, now happening on December 3rd. This is coming with another new Fortnite live event! A leaked loading screen and various skins in the game might give us a clue about this event, rapper Eminem appears in it. How a concert will tie into our end of Chapter blowout is still a mystery though. It’s only a short while until we see the Fortnite Big Bang event and get all of our answers.
NEW FORTNITE OG SEASON
The hotfix isn’t just updating the files, it has brought Fortnite OG over to a brand-new season. We’re going to be jumping into a mix of Season 9 and Season X for the final period of Fortnite OG. These are major changes we’ve seen with the latest Fortnite patch notes.
- New Weapons and Items
- Heavy Sniper Rifle
- Proximity Grenade Launcher
- Air Strike
- Junk Rift
- Storm Flip
- Jetpack
NEW VEHICLES
The Baller is making a comeback! This vehicle can move over any terrain that you want. It has a grappler for easy access to even high ground. One of the more powerful vehicles that Epic has ever added to the game. The jetpack is back as an item too, which is a kind of vehicle.
All of these new changes should help to make Fortnite X and 9 a fun part of OG. We’re further into the first chapter than most think of as the OG period, but it’s great to get some of these fun items back. Particularly things like the Storm Flip which have only rarely been included in the past.
FORTNITE SEASON 6 PATCH
The latest Fortnite update patch notes is here a week after the new season launched. As this is Fortnite OG, we’re getting a bit more out of the latest Fortnite patch notes than a normal hotfix. We’re basically getting a new season’s worth of changes. The Chapter 1 version of the game has been changed from being based on Season 5 to Season 6 instead.
While most of the new content is back from Season 6, there are actually some much more modern changes hidden in here too. One Fortnite item that was nowhere to be seen in the OG Fortnite Chapter 1 has been quietly re-enabled as very high-level loot. This is what’s changed.
MAP CHANGES
Unlike most new Fortnite update patch notes, we have major Fortnite OG map changes. The central Loot Lake POI has been changed up. The house is now hovering up in the air, with quite a few more chest spawns. The river itself now draws into a whirlpool, where you get launched back up into the air.
All of these changes originally happened as a result of Kevin the Cube’s trip around the island. There are a few other smaller changes around the map too.
NEW MOBILITY – DRIFTBOARDS AND QUADCRASHERS
A major part of the new Fortnite patch notes are new mobility vehicles. We’re getting both the Quadcrasher and Driftboards! These two items allow you to get around the map a lot quicker. It’s a big improvement on the locked down traversal of the last week of Fortnite OG.
There’s another mobility item which has appeared in the game a bit more quietly though. The Grapple Glove. This was a reskin of the Spider-Man’s Webslingers back in Chapter 3. It allowed the game to keep its mobility without having to use items from one of the Fortnite crossovers along the way. It’s a weird addition to a nostalgia season but should keep those unhappy with the more retro playstyle at bay. It’s mainly found in supply drops, so pretty rare.
NEW ITEMS
The final part of our Fortnite patch notes are the new items. These are the weapons and other goods that have been added:
- Double Barrel Shotgun
- Six Shooter
- Clinger
- Port-A-Fortress
- Chiller Trap
- Mounted Turrets
- Old Fortnite Patch Notes
NEW OLD MAP
The Chapter 1 map is back! This has been built up quite a bit before release but it’s great to jump in and try that classic map back out. There’s been basically no changes from its original form, so players can enjoy one of the maps that made Fortnite so popular today. It’s less a new map and more a flashback.
The map is starting out in Chapter 1 Season 5. In about a week we’ll get another update bringing us to Season 6, then a joint 7/8, before a final update bringing us to Season 9/X.
OLD WEAPONS RETURNING
One major change in the new Fortnite update patch notes is the weapon pool. Everything that wasn’t around for Season 1 is gone. That means all modern shotguns, ARs, FN Mythic and Exotics, fishing, most meds, pretty much everything.
What’s here instead is the OG loot pool. We’ve got the weapons and items from Chapter 1 Season 5 back. Some highlights include the OG Pump Shotgun, the Burst Assault Rifle, you can even rocket ride once more!
Some changes that might need getting used to are the meds and mobility. These are lighter. We’re back to quite basic meds and lower mobility. This is a fun change of pace from the recent set-ups. Players will have to adjust their strategy for the game compared to C4 S4 though.
BATTLE PASS
A new Battle Pass is here for this season! This one is shorter, since we’re in a mini season. You’re getting a few new skins including a customizable Peely and a build your own Knight skin! The battle Pass still returns more than a thousand V-Bucks too. So, if you buy it, you’ll get more V-Bucks back than you spent. Finishing off each season’s Battle Pass is a perfect way to get free V-Bucks in Fortnite.
CHAPTER 4 SEASON 4 PATCH NOTES
The latest Fortnite patch arrived this week! This time, it’s just a small balance fix though. We’ve only recently gotten the Fortnitemares 2023 updates. So, it makes sense Epic is pushing out a smaller one the week after. It’s largely bugfixes and other minor changes here. What exactly has changed with the latest Fortnite patch notes though? This is what’s different:
NEW AUGMENTS
The hotfix has enabled two different Augments for the Fortnitemares content.
- Revamped – Get a Wood Stake Shotgun also get a siphon effect from hits on enemies with the gun.
- Witchy Warrior – Get a Witch’s Broom and a decreased cooldown for the item.
MAP CHANGES
The other major change is some fiddling with the map. It isn’t a new POI or anything like that though. A number of Chapter 1 props have appeared all over Frenzy Fields. In lore, it seems they’ve used Kado’s time machine to bring these Chapter 1 props back. This lines up with the future of the game that are hinted at with the Fortnite leaks going on at the moment.
These changes aren’t going to make a difference for a lot of gameplay. However, it’s a nice update midseason to hint at what’s coming next.
The first big update for Chapter 4 Season 2 from Epic has brought a lot of new content into the game. This time it’s centered around a seasonal event. This means we’ve got a clear expiry date for this new stuff! There are some changes that are sticking around though. These are all of the major changes in the Fortnite update patch notes.
CHAPTER 4 SEASON 2 PATCH NOTES – SPRING BREAKOUT PATCH NOTES
A big portion of the new Fortnite patch notes in the Spring Breakout! This is our Spring event. It means we’re getting the Egg Launcher back as an item, along with more chickens who now dropped various types of eggs for you to collect or eat!
The patch also comes with new Spring Breakout quests. These are available through April 11th! Players can get a few free cosmetics for completing them, including the Bloomback Sack Back Bling, Shell Smash Spray, The Works Loading Screen, and Spring Breakout Banner Icon. Completing all of the quests will net you a pickaxe and a glider too! These are entirely free and have their own expiry, so you don’t have to worry about when the Fortnite Battle Pass ends here.
NEW AUGMENTS IN FORTNITE UPDATE PATCH NOTES
New Reality Augments are coming into Battle Royale with the new update. The first adds an option for getting an Egg Launcher directly, which is a nice way to ensure you’re getting brand new content in your game. Then there’s a handful of others that will stick around beyond the Spring event.
- Rail Warrior – Regenerate your health and some shield while on grind rails and ziplines
- Go for Broke – Get a Charge Shotgun and Flintknock Pistol
- Aquatic Warrior – Get a faster movement speed and health regeneration while swimming
- Game Time – Get a Pizza Party and some Chug Splashes!
SPECIALIST NPCS HIT THE GAME
The new Fortnite update patch notes has added four new types of NPC. These are the follower NPCs but with a bit of a difference, they’re now actually useful. There’s one that scouts enemies with a sniper, another that deals explosive damage, one that drops ammo or mats, and a medical specialist who heals you.
MORE STYLES
The new Fortnite patch notes are introducing new styles you can unlock beyond the first 100 tiers of the Battle Pass! Great if you’ve already maxed out your progress this time.
BUILDING SETTINGS
If you’re playing on PC, you’ve now got new options for build sensitivities and edit multipliers. These should help to fine tune everything! These can help you get even more control and improve at building in Fortnite.
KID LAROI JOINING FORTNITE
Kid LAROI is going to be the next addition to the Fortnite Icon Series. His skin is hitting the game. That’s alongside music from the artists being in Fortnite, and a specially made creative experience designed around that music. Players can have a shot at winning one of the skins for free by taking part in an in-game tournament, the Kid LAROI Cup.
FALCON SCOUT
The Falcon Scout is a new item added in with the Fortnite update V23.20 patch notes. This is a brand-new recon scanner. You can send it out, which switches your view to controlling a flying robotic Falcon.
This Falcon can pick up loot containers and then drop the loot close to you. It can also caw, this will scan and mark enemies that are in the area. You can scan the area and get great intel on what’s coming. The Falcon Scout provides some of the best recon information you’ll find in the game, it has some drawbacks though.
The biggest is that you’re not in control of your character while you’re using the Falcon. You’re exposed, players can easily come up on you for an easy kill. The other drawback is the Falcon has health itself and can be shot down by opposing players. It’s got a decent balance, but they can be invaluable.
REALITY AUGMENT UPDATES
The other big feature for the Fortnite patch notes this time is more Reality Augments! These have shown up in some recent Fortnite leaks, but we’ve got a new batch enabled in game. These are the new Reality Augments:
- Peely’s Plunder – You get a treasure map.
- Shotgun Striker – Get a siphon when you hit an opponent
- Rarity Check – Siphon effect on common and uncommon weapon eliminations
- Zero Chance – Get the zero-point effect when you break an enemy’s shield
- Danger Hero – Get a health and movement speed boost when your shield breaks.
OTHER CHANGES IN THE FORTNITE UPDATE V23.20 PATCH NOTES
Those are all of the major new additions. However, there’s a lot more in the Fortnite update V23.20 Patch Notes. These are all of the changes:
- NPC Characters – Hired characters can now travel in vehicles
- Competitive Playlist – Rarity Check Augment removed from competitive.
- Bug Fixes – The bug that prevents sprinting is gone, Mantling is back, reality augments are fully working again, and pickaxe inconsistency is gone.
- Deku’s Smash – This is back in the game!
Everything being re-enabled in these Fortnite update patch notes is a great relief after the last few weeks. Items like Deku’s Smash are back in both Battle Royale and Zero Build, the mode where Fortnite removed building. Those are all of the major changes for the Fortnite update V23.20 patch notes! There’s plenty more coming this season though, so keep an eye on Fortnite news for when we get more patches and fresh content in the game.
